I was lucky enough to be on a recovery page in Facebook when Kody Christiansen came on and let us know that his memoir "Hollywood Heartbreak/New York Dreams" was on sale for the Kindle. I went to purchase one. I enjoyed Kody's story immensely including his honesty in talking about his crushes, relationships and drug use. I could feel his pain as he learned that people can be quite cruel. I have always said that before you can truly love another person you must love yourself first. You must love yourself to the point that you do not allow others to treat you in any way other than an honest and loving way. I was glad to see that Kody put down the drugs and alcohol and became fully aware of the awesomeness that is he and allowed him to open his mind and heart to caring relationships that are two-sided - NOT one sided. Thank you for sharing what must have been a hard story to write.Product details

This is such a great example and inspiration of how far perseverance and hard work will take you. I'm so glad this author refused to give up on how valuable his life and story are, and that he was willing to share them both through this book.

Reading Hollywood Heartbreak New York Dreams was like I was listening to Kaleb tell his story to me. Like I was sitting with an old friend telling me his inspirational story. Maybe because he is an old friend I felt that way. But I believe even if I didn't know who Kaleb was, this book would have the same feeling. The story is so naturally written, and it makes it such an intriguing read. Thank you Kody for allowing the world to read your story! You are and will be an inspiration to so many! Addiction can be detrimental to so many people. I believe readers who are looking for an inspiration to be whatever it is they aspire to be will find their inspiration in this honest, heartfelt work of art.
This book is reaI, it is raw, It is empowering and inspirational. Kody wrote this book and spared no humility. I went thru his ups and downs his best and worst. The way it was written I felt I was right by his side going thru his life with him. I wanted to scream at him and I wanted to give him a huge hug. One of the best written books I have ever read and I highly recommend.
This book hits home to alot of people who have struggled with depression or drinking or even drugs. I couldn't put it down!!!! I suggest when you purchase this that you find a quiet coffee shop and take the day off with a box of tissues. This man has been through it all and so glad to see that he has come so far in less than a year. I highly suggest this book for anyone. Thank you again Kody for writing such an amazing story!!!!!!!
I may be a little biased because I've known the author for many years, but I was enthralled by this story. Kody is a natural story teller and I could hear his voice narrating the whole time. From the beginning I felt love and hate for the various characters- toward those who had helped or shunned my friend.
But this isn't merely a journal entry or a blog. The writing is good. And I know the more he writes, it will get even better. For a first book, the flow was good and the cohesiveness of the ideas and story worked well. I could overlook some of the errors because I was invested in the story. (I'm sorry! I can't help but notice!! But I still gave 5 stars!!!! 😀😀😀)
As for the subject matter wow. To go through so much, most people would just give up or end up living in a perpetual cycle of drugs, drinking, and homelessness until they die. I am so proud of Kody's resilience and drive to better himself. I know this story will and has already touched lives and helped people who struggle with addiction. Addiction is no joke and people need to see the good, the bad, the ugly.
The candidness and the truthfulness in this book allow the reader to really sympathize and root for Kody's success. The whole way through I kept thinking, "No don't have a drink! You have so much to offer!"
Kody This was such a brave endeavor- to open your life up and literally be an open book. To allow us into your journey is a gift for us. Thank you for sharing your story. I will be watching as you continue your success and rooting for you all the way!! And if you stumble, don't give up. We are human and you have so many people rooting for you!!
